Evils Of Destruction: Free Market Destruction And Citizens United

It would not bother me if starting with the State of Union address Obama was more like Teddy Roosevelt. The president is going to talk about increasing taxes, providing more social programs and lifting the poor out of poverty through education.

He will not discuss fixing free markets through the justice department with anti-trust laws so industries are not controlled by oligarchs, stifling markets the GOP claim as our savior. They have a flawed idea of free markets. Their definition is no government involvement, including referee like officials in a football game assuring all market participants play by the rules.

With more competitors, industries would be fighting to get customers and competing for the best employees possible resulting in higher wages for middle and working class workers while reducing wages at the top in order to remain competitive. The middle class would also benefit by prices for goods and services being reduced.

Further, Citizens United needs reversing. Oligarchs are buying our politicians. Politicians look at their position as a job instead of a vocation. "For the first time in history, more than half the members of Congress are millionaires, according to... an analysis of financial disclosure reports conducted by the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics." Majority in Congress are Millionaires, January 13, 2014, NPR. How is it possible for them to relate to the middle class? Here is what must be done.
